I’m Marie josephine Veldhuizen. Born and raised in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
I make sculptures, poetry, music and explore biomaterials.
Inspiration: A lot of my inspiration comes from
nature, i love to make organic shapes and these shapes i find mostly in growing or moving things like; trees, water, plants, mushrooms, music instruments and sound
My experience in art practise:
- studing Fine Art at Willem de Kooning academie in Rotterdam. (2022-2026)
-I work at Beeldhouwatelier Simone van Olst, sculpting studio. (februari2025 - onwards)
- Organizing an exhibition collectively at Sprout. (2023)
What do i want to achieve?
My recent goal is to exhibit more somewhere outside of Rotterdam. I would like to extend my artists network.
I also would like to make my art for a living, And to be able to finance myself trough my art sales and events.
Artistic practise: I tend to work with biomaterials only like; natural clay, wood, stone and plants. I like to see my art as sustainable art and always try to use biodegradable materials.

My studio/atelier experience:
I love working in a studio/atelier, i’ve had 2 ateliers
during my time at the academy.
In 2023 I was part of a collective with 12 other artitst students.
where we organized events and exhibitions.
In the end of 2023 me and 5 other artists students
decided to rent a new atelier. Where
we collaborated, danced, made art,
had jam sessions, gave eachother
feedback, organzied parties and
prepared for exhibitions.
I really like to surround my self with other
like minded creative people and love
to motivate and help each other out while
working on projects and during
brainstorm session.
Currently i do not have a studio,
but im desparetely searching for one in Rotterdam omwr Amsterdam!!!
